First Eucharist

First Eucharist

Christ gives the Bread and Wine that are His Body and Blood to strengthen the life of grace within us. The norm of the Diocese of Phoenix is for baptized children to receive their First Holy Eucharist, or First Holy Communion in the third grade, after two consecutive years of preparation. It is combined with the celebration of Confirmation to complete the sacraments of Christian Initiation. First Confession takes place prior to this sacrament.
Students older than third grade and adults who have not made their First Communion may enroll in classes for their preparation. Please click on the appropriate option below for more information.

Grade School

Preparation for the First Holy Communion for baptized children in third grade through grade fiver is in addition to regular attendance at the weekly faith formation session or Catholic school.  It is expected that the family is participating at one of the weekend Masses.  Contact the parish office 480-985-7655 for information or to register.

Jr. High/High School

Preparation for the sacraments of First Communion is offered the first Tuesday after Catechetical Sunday thru Easter. This is for Junior High and High School students 12 to 18 years of age.   It is expected that the family is participating in the weekly Sunday Mass, and will participate in a retreat in addition to the regular Tuesday class from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Please call the parish office.
