Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Children (R.C.I.A./R.C.I.C.)

The Rite of Christian Initiation is a journey to welcome people into the Catholic faith. The RCIA is for those who are 18 and older who want to become a member of the Catholic Church.  The journey begins by contacting the RCIA Coordinator and filling out a registration form.  Classes meet on Sunday Morning starting in September each year and end in April the following year.  This program is also for children (RCIC) and teens (RCIT) who want to become Catholic.

RCIA is a series of rites that are conducted in the context of learning about the Catholic faith.  This education and spiritual formation leads a person to become fully incorporated into the Body of Christ, the Catholic Church.

Who is the RCIA for?
• Adults who are not baptized who desire to be initiated into the Catholic faith (and receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
• Those who are baptized in another faith, who will make a Profession of Faith and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.

The RCIA starts in the fall (September) with weekly classes and continues a few weeks after the Easter Vigil (April).  The RCIA process begins with contact with a coordinator, registration and attending inquiry classes that meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00am.

Children (age 9 and older) and teens enter into the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) and RCIT (Rite of Christian Initiation of Teens) programs and are a part of the overall RCIA program.  RCIC and RCIT are for those children or teens who are not baptized or are baptized in another faith.

If you or someone you know is interested in the Catholic faith please contact us through the parish office 480-985-7655.
