Confirmation

Confirmation

Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, is necessary for full initiation into the Catholic Church.  In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
Diocesan policy has returned to the “Restored Order” for the Sacraments of Initiation.  The restored order means that the Sacraments of Initiation are received in the same order as they had been for many centuries in our Church history. That order is: Baptism/Confirmation/First Eucharist.  The sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist are celebrated together at the same Mass.
The norm of the Diocese of Phoenix is for baptized children to receive Confirmation in the third grade, after two consecutive years of preparation.

Grade School…

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation for baptized children in third grade through grade six is in addition to regular attendance at the weekly faith formation session or Catholic school.  It is expected that the family is participating at one of the weekend Masses.  Contact the parish office at 480-985-7655 for information or to register.

Jr. High/High School…

Jr. High/High School
Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation is offered the first Tuesday after Catechetical Sunday thru Easter. This is for Junior High and High School students 12 to 18 years of age.   It is expected that the family is participating in the weekly Sunday Mass, and will participate in a retreat in addition to the regular Tuesday class from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Please call the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry at 480.985.7655 ext. 210 or email: [email protected].
For those unbaptized
Preparation for unbaptized adults, teens, and children over 7 years of age is through our Rite of Christian Initiation program. Click here for additional information.

Adults…

ADULT CONFIRMATION PREPARATION
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is offered annually for an adult Catholic who is baptized and has received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.  This process helps a parishioner journey to full initiation in the Catholic Church and deepen the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Sessions begin in January.  Contact the parish office at 480-985-7655 for information or to register.
