Missionary Families of Christ

Who We Are

Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) is a Catholic evangelistic and missionary community

dedicated to bringing individuals and families closer to Christ. It aims to renew Christian family life through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We build strong, Christ-centered families and actively live out the call to evangelization,

service, and renewal. As a community, we are committed to growing in faith, love, and mission.

MFC SECTIONS

The MFC community is divided into Sections that provide essential support environments

for every family member, ensuring a comprehensive approach to family renewal.

Each section is important to our community, and to help you get a better idea of what

they’re all about, we have some members here to share and explain each section.

MFC Kids: a ministry dedicated to children of MFC members and

non-members aged 4 to 12.

MFC Youth: A vibrant ministry dedicated to evangelizing young people aged 13 to 24.

MFC Singles: MFC Singles supports individuals past school age who are discerning their vocation, whether marriage or lifelong service to the Lord. It provides a space for deeper faith development and vocational clarity."

MFC Couples: The MFC Couples ministry plays a crucial role in safeguarding the sanctity of marriage and family life amid modern challenges. Couples are encouraged to grow in holiness, marital fidelity, and family renewal, becoming missionaries who proclaim Christ to other families."

MFC Handmaids: MFC Handmaids is a ministry for single women, including single parents, separated or divorced women, unmarried mature singles, married women with absent husbands, and widows.

WHAT WE DO

Missionary Families of Christ is a vibrant community dedicated to deepening faith,

strengthening families, and sharing the Gospel.

Locally, we engage in various activities to help us grow spiritually and serve others.

Christian Life Seminar (CLS):

The CLS is an integrated course designed to help retreat participants gain a

renewed understanding of God’s call as Christians. Each session includes teaching,

group discussion, and fellowship.

The CLS has two main goals: evangelization and spiritual renewal

While the CLS concludes, participants are invited to continue their journey with

MFC, where they can learn more about the Christian life, find support, and serve

God.

• Household Prayer Gatherings (HPG): A household is a group of people who meet regularly during the week for personal sharing, support, and encouragement in their Christian lives. It’s the basic unit in MFC’s pastoral structure and is essential to our life and mission.

• General Prayer Assemblies (GPA): The General Prayer Assembly is a time for all households to get together, pray, worship, and strengthen our community.

It’s a great chance for spiritual growth, reflection, and sharing experiences through

prayer sessions, teachings, and discussions that help deepen our faith and bring us

closer together. It’s all about supporting one another!

• Youth Ministry Activities: It provides a supportive environment where youth can build friendships centered on Christ, engage in spiritual formation, and participate in various activities that promote personal and communal growth. MFC Youth aims to inspire young people to live out their faith actively and to be witnesses of Christ in their everyday lives.

• Formation Programs: The MFC Marriage Enrichment Retreat is all about helping married couples strengthen their relationships within the Missionary Families of Christ community.

It focuses on improving communication, deepening connections, and understanding what marriage really means. Through fun teachings and activities, couples get to reflect on their relationship, share experiences, and renew their commitment to each other while embodying Christ's love.

• Service to the Church:

MFC defines "service to the Church" as getting involved in the Church's mission

through different ministries and outreach efforts. This means supporting Church teachings, helping the community, and using our gifts to serve others. It’s all about living out our faith and spreading love while working together within the Church.

• Fellowship Events: It’s our casual get-togethers where members can hang out, build friendships, and strengthen community ties. These can be anything from social outings to informal gatherings, all about connecting, supporting each other, and growing in faith together. It’s a great way to create a sense of belonging and unity outside our formal

meetings.

GLOBAL PRESENCE

Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) started in the Philippines in 1981, focused on renewing

families and spreading faith. What began as a local movement quickly took off!

By the late '80s, MFC had reached the United States and Canada. Throughout the '90s

and 2000s, the family expanded even further, making its way to countries like Malaysia,

Singapore, Italy, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.

Today, MFC is active in over 30 countries, including Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa,

Australia, and many more, making a real difference in the lives of families everywhere. It’s

an exciting journey of faith and community that keeps growing!

THE VATICAN RECOGNITION

"Missionary Families of Christ is officially recognized by the Vatican as a lay Catholic

organization. This recognition affirms our commitment to fostering strong Christian families, evangelization, and service to the Church."

HOW TO JOIN MFC

Those who want to join MFC go through a seminar called a Christian Life Seminar (CLS) for adults, or a Youth Camp for young adults. The CLS and Youth Camp are integrated courses leading to a renewed understanding of God’s call to Christians, to a personal response of accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord, and to receive a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Young children also join MFC through a Kids Camp.

After the CLS or Youth Camp, those who finish are considered underway members, and after the Covenant Recollection (CR) are invited to join MFC as full members, demonstrating their commitment by accepting the MFC covenant.
